Over the past 13+ years in software I’ve done a variety of things. I am proud to say I broke into the industry as a web master hacking away at Web design and development for a software company and most recently I’ve been working as a Cloud Solution Architect for Microsoft. There was also a brief stint in there as a corporate software architect and Microsoft MVP but those are ancient history now.
My most recent techie passions are in the cloud. For the last 3 years I’ve been teaching developer techniques, advanced debugging, infrastructure deployment and how to move apps securely into the cloud. This has been a huge transition for me in my career because I had to shift my focus from if statements and for loops to CIDR notation and virtual server technologies. One common thread continues to be how to architect high performing manageable secure distributed systems. It’s all engineering work and I still love doing it … hands on baby!
Enough about the professional stuff, now the fun stuff. In my spare time I spend time with my family (wife and 3 young kids), play Ice Hockey and hit the CrossFit gym 3 to 5 days a week. Whenever possible I try to spend time with friends and travel a little bit for nice beach vacations and Disney visits for the kids.
